Llamas are gentle, calm animals that belong to the camelid family.
The fluffy eyebrows and trousers of the woolly llama / suri llama is something that has always made us smile! What a tonic it is to be around such majestic animals. Llamas are truly unique and almost have a mythical air about them.
Each of our llamas have such wonderful personalities and features. It occurred to us how people laugh and smile when they are around them visiting our farm.
We are often asked to visit nursing homes, children/adults with autism and people with learning disabilities. We believe that our animals are much more relaxed and happier in their own environment which is essential for any living thing. Llamas are herd orientated and are highly sensitive to their surroundings and we want people to get the best out of their visit to us.
The camelid enrichment session is a unique experience. Bringing our beautiful llamas into the garden area which is set within the grounds of our magnificent grade 11 listed property circa 1690, nestled on 32 acres of grass and woodland. The area boasts an array of wildlife and tranquillity.
During the camelid enrichment you will sit within the gardens which look down to a beautiful lake, picturesque views and calming surroundings.
Seats are provided within the garden for people with limited mobility. Seeing the llamas within their own surroundings; bringing these magical animals to you. We can adapt the experience to suit the individual.
Camelid enrichment is highly beneficial to people with mobility problems, disabilities, depression etc
At Briery Hill Llamas we use Reiki /Camelidynamics as part of our handling techniques and the action of touch is extremely beneficial to the animal and person. You will be given instructions/ handling skills in order for you to brush your llamas should you wish to. This tends to bring on a sense of calm and wellbeing, we refer to this as the Karma Llama effect!
Llamas are very quiet animals and make a humming noise, the pitch of the hum can mean different things! Some almost sound like they are singing!
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” –Anatole France (awarded the noble prize in literature 1921).
